Being gay/lesbian/bisexual is down to…
For years now I’ve struggled with the direction I wanted to take the Gay Girls Guide. It was an idea which never fully formed, only flashing glimpses of what it might be, never strong enough to stop life and women distracting me from exploring it further. I’ve started and stopped more times than I’ve bombed out of yet another relationship and I can’t promise I won’t stop again. The one thing I can say is that every time I’ve stopped I’ve wasted no time in expanding my knowledge of how not to do relationships.
On these pages, I hope to share some of that with you.
I’m 36, single (again), on the butch side of andro, and love femmes.
There was an old site, with a load of posts, but while in the process of trying to sort it out I managed to kill it. As a result, I’ve had to start again.
That’s probably for the best.
See \'about\' page for more about me and the site.
I know that there are a lot of gay men, lesbian women and bisexual people who can relate to the feeling of not ‘fitting in’. Though we come from every imaginable background, we share the childhood sense that our sexual and romantic feelings disqualify us from membership in the heterosexual world of our friends and [...]
“You’re neither unnatural, nor abominable, nor made; you’re as much a part of what people call nature as anyone else; only you’re unexplained as yet – you’ve not got your niche in creation” [Radclyffe Hall, 1886-1943, British writer and poet, 'The Well of Loneliness'] Homophobes come in all variety of shapes, sizes, and walks of [...]
So you’ve decided that you’re a gay girl. Your certain in your mind, body and soul, and so many things now make sense and feelings seem clearer. You’ve overcome probably the biggest – but definitely not the last – hurdle you will have to face, you’ve accepted yourself. Coming out to your parents can be [...]
When you meet the girl of your dreams, everything seems perfect. You find your perfect house or apartment, you make your move and then you set about choosing the colour scheme. Things couldn’t be better. But as with all good things in life, you never get the good without the bad and with your perfect [...]
Ask any gay man or lesbian and they will undoubtedly regale you with stories of an ex (or current) partner’s psychotic tendencies. It’s a kind of twisted gift which can con anyone. ANYONE. But not only have we all some sort of experience with at least one psychopath, some people seem inexplicably attracted to crack-pots, [...]
How do you know you’re gay/lesbian/queer/bisexual/non-heterosexual/choose own label? Well, how do straight people know they’re straight? How do you know you’re left or right handed? You just know. It’s something you feel right through to your very core, no matter how much you try and quieten those urges. Even though the debate rages on regarding [...]
The beep beep song I have been on this planet for 35 years and a few months. In that time I have managed to squeeze in a fair few disastrous relationships. I thought I’d seen all the types of crazy I could somehow inspire in a woman. A few months ago, I found out that [...]
I pride myself on having a pretty well tuned gaydar. I even have the frequency set to pick up those silent little signals emitted by a woman with ‘a want’. As you get older, it becomes second nature to fine-tune it almost as a means of identification within the outside world, away from pubs, clubs, [...]
